Travel Times from Vienna
Maps of travel time reveal how differently Vienna connects to its surroundings by car, public transport and rail.
Distance is not the same as travel time
Starting from Stephansplatz, this story compares the places reachable within the same amount of time. Local maps put cars and Wiener Linien side by side; European maps extend the comparison to longer journeys by road and rail.
The coloured bands are equal-travel-time areas, also called isochrones. The original calculation uses traffic-free driving times and average Wiener Linien travel times.
