A different portrait of Austria, built from small maps, pictograms and unexpected provincial comparisons.

One country, many ways to count it

Fruit harvests, tourism, registered dogs and other indicators reshape the familiar outline of Austria. Repeated colours identify the provinces, while squares and pictograms translate quantities into countable visual units.

I created the data work and graphics, with illustrations by Andreas Posselt. Each panel has its own measure and reference year; their juxtaposition is an editorial invitation to explore, not a claim that the indicators explain one another.
